Troubleshooting Common Problems In Touch Screen Monitors

Here are a few simple steps to try to fix common issues during the initial installation process. If these troubleshooting steps do not work, please give us a call directly at 847-851-1600

Step 1: Check that all cables are connected.

  1. Always visually inspect the cable for damages first to make sure that the cable itself is not a problem.
  2. Check Power Adapter Cable – Make sure that the power is connected to the electricity as well as the monitor.
  3. Check Display Cable – This cable can be VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI. Make sure that the cable is properly connected from the monitor to the computer.
  4. Check Touch Interface Cable – Typically a USB cable. Make sure that this cable is securely connected to the USB connector in your computer. Avoid using external USB hubs or non approved USB extenders/repeaters/cables. Contact us for more information if you need an extension cable for USB.

Step 2: Check to see if the Display is powered on

  1. Press the power button on the display to turn on the display.
  2. If the display does not turn on, check to see if the computer that is connected to the display is fully powered on and running.
  3. If it is, try restarting the computer so that the screen detection can occur. Also make sure that the proper video card drivers are installed and ready to use on the computer system.

Step 3: Resolving Touch Problems

  1. If the display works but the touch is unresponsive, make sure that you have the correct drivers installed.
  2. If the drivers are not installed, install the drivers and restart the computer to complete the installation.
  3. If you are using the Evolution model or other driverless touch displays, try unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in. Wait 1-2 minutes for Windows to detect the touch interface.
  4. If that does not work, try restarting the computer; sometimes detection may not work on the first try.
